After a big drinking night, have you woken up hungry in next morning?
Apparently, there is a scientific reason behind this and the researchers at London’s Francis Crick Institute have found it as well.
According to them, certain brain cells which stimulate hunger can be triggered by alcohol.
“The alcohol is active in the brain on a group of nerve cells in the area of the brain that regulates food intake, and these nerve cells make a protein called agouti-related proteins — so they are AgRP neurons,” said Gary Wittert, the head of the School of Medicine at Adelaide University.
This, in turn, can cause over eating as alcohol already has a large calorie amount of calories per gram, the extra eating makes the situation worse if you are trying to shed some pounds.
