According to the research conducted by the Bloomberg School of Public Health Center, found that Americans throw away 1,217 calories worth of food every day. It means that the Americans waste around 40 percent of the available food every year.
“Huge quantities of nutritious foods end up in landfills instead of meeting Americans’ dietary needs. Our findings illustrate how food waste exists alongside inadequate intake of many nutrients.” A spokesperson noted.
The government has set a goal of reducing the food waste by 50 percent by 2030.
