Authorities want Supermarkets to stop giving discounts on unhealthy food

As an attempt to curb obesity in children, the Commons Health Select committee has advised the supermarkets to stop giving discounts on unhealthy food items.

The committee also expressed their disappointment in the government’s rejection of the recommendations that were given by experts to tackle obesity.

“The government must set clear goals for reducing overall levels of childhood obesity as well as goals for reducing the unacceptable and widening levels of inequality.” The committee noted.
