Here is how Canada is curbing food waste and helping the needy

Canada made a huge leap in avoiding food waste a few years back by launching the Supermarket Recovery program. The project, which was launched as a two year pilot project, is now all set to be expanded to save more food items.

The supermarkets in the nation will be able to donate their unsold products to local food banks as part of the program and due to this, around 2.5 Million Kilograms of food was saved last  year.

A huge rise in the usage of food banks across the country has also boosted the program and the expansion could help this portion of the population as well.
