The diet foods out there might be helping us in shedding those extra pounds but as far as our dogs are concerned, it could be deadly. Xylitol, a compound which is usually found in the diet food that we eat are dangerous for dogs.
Cases of dogs getting sick due to consumption of diet foods have gone up during the past five years.
“They start to get really droopy, sometimes start salivating, get sick to their stomach. They go into a situation where they pass out,” said Dr. Dan Thompson of Chisholm Trail Animal Hospital.
If immediate care is not given, it could lead to shut down of the dog’s liver: thus resulting in more major problems.
