Food makers asked to cut calories in food products by 2024 in this country

The public health officials in the United Kingdom have asked the food industry to cut the calories in food products by 2024. The advice is to cut around 20% of the calories from food items and if the businesses fail to do so, they will be named and shamed.

The idea behind the move is to avoid unhealthy consumption of food.

“We have more obese children in England than ever before – we have one in five children arriving in primary school already obese or overweight and one in three leaving primary school obese or overweight. It is the norm now,” one of the representatives noted.

Another representative noted that it’s not an attack on the overweight and that it’s about time that Britain went on a diet.
