Forget activated Charcoal, matte black latte is the new thing

After the trend of activated charcoal, a new drink from Round K in New York City is making headlines. The drink is darker than the activated charcoal based recipes and it contains coconut ash, almond milk, espresso and around 98 percent of Dutch process cocoa.

The colour of the drink is as a result of the coconut ash, which is a type of activated charcoal.

″Customers are always surprised and shocked [when they first try the drink]. No one expected it to be actually black, so when I serve people the drink, their first response is often, ‘Wow, it really is black,’” the drink’s creator, Ockhyeon Byeon, told the Huffington Post.
