The garlic powder you buy might be a victim of food fraud

Garlic Powder is now under the limelight due to food fraud. According to Christopher Elliot, the director of Global Food Security at Queen’s University Belfast, the producers of Garlic Powder might be tricking us into using a product mixed with talcum powder or chalk.

Elliot questioned how the sale of garlic continues to rise despite having a cold weather in China, which is responsible for providing around 75 percent of World’s Garlic supply.

Chalk is not considered to be toxic for humans but the talc which is used in powder is known for causing cancer.
