Eating on a plane might not be the best experience. And there is a good reason for this. The food is cooked, packaged and transported to the plane before they are reconstituted mid-flight.
The process takes away a lot of the freshness in the food and with the low air pressure; the food tends to go dry which is a common complaint.
Delta Air Lines general Manager Dan Mord recently revealed the food items that could give a pleasant dining experience on air.
“Moisture in the air is what transfers the flavor and airplane air is dry. So dishes with heavier and sweeter flavors work well at altitude.”
This explains the popularity of desserts when flying. So when you are planning to eat on plane next time keep this in mind.
