Junk food might be unhealthy but the industry is helping out sports. How you may ask. Well, according to a new study, 76 percent of the sports sponsorships in the United States comes from junk foods.
The research was published in the journal paediatrics and it focussed on top 10 sports organizations which were frequently watched by children between the age of 2 and 17. The researchers noted that such sponsorships will have a negative impact on the choice of children when it comes to their food choices and diet.
Along with this, around 52.4 percent of beverages shown in the sports sponsorship advertisements are sugar-sweetened.
So while the junk food industry is helping the sports organizations to gather some money, it is apparently promotion an unhealthy diet as well.
