Hospitals to limit junk food and promote healthy food instead

In Australia, the hospitals have decided to cut down on the junk food that they have on their cateens and decided to promote healthy food instead.

The current traffic light food classification system which is being used will be replaced with two categories – every day and occasions. The portion sizes and overall proportion of food will fall into the less healthy category.

Everyday food include food items like grains, vegetables, legumes, fruits and lean meat whereas occasional food will include saturated fat, sugar, salt and other unhealthy items. Hospital will concentrate more on the former category.
