Mangoes could be used for birth control, suggests study

A new study conducted by the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California suggest that the compounds found in Mangoes could be crucial in creating hormone free birth control pills.

Such pills could be safely taken by both men and women. The plant compound named pristimerin, when combined with another compound called lupeol found in Mangoes, has the ability to avert sperm hyperactivation. This, in turn, could block the potential fertilization.

Other than Mangoes, lupeol is also found in olives and grapes.
