Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a public warning about eating overcooked potatoes and burnt toasts as they could cause cancer.
Opting for gold color rather than darker brown while frying, roasting or grilling can be much healthier when compared to the latter. Acrylamide is found in high levels in certain food items and having the same in high levels can cause neurological damage and even cause cancer in humans.
“We are not saying people should worry about the occasional meal… this is about managing risk over a lifetime. Anything you can do to reduce your exposure will reduce your lifetime risk. People might, for example, think ‘I like my roast potatoes crispy’, but they will just decide to have them less often.” Steve Wearne, director of policy at the FSA said.
