Oysters are being recalled from markets, here’s why

A large-scale recall of oysters is being made around the United States. There have been several reports of norovirus in oysters. The norovirus is a stomach bug which causes some unpleasant symptoms.

The problem occurred mostly in inlets in Washington and around 31 companies have been apparently affected by the same. The state health department is currently in attempts to determine the cause of the virus. The department suggests that the virus can be spread into the marine waters through boat discharges, septic tank systems and malfunctioning of wastewater treatment plants.
