Poop in your iced drink? Study suggests so

A study conducted by BBC’s Watchdog program last year had exposed the possibility of our iced drink containing fecal coliform bacteria. A year after the expose, things haven’t changed much as iced drinks from most of the famous outlets still carry fecal bacteria.

While the impact of this bacteria is still up for debate, experts do suggest that having a clean kitchen can reduce the risks and went on to add that the restaurant staff should also take steps to avoid such issues.

“Issues identified as contributing to poor results were mainly related to inadequate cleaning and maintenance procedures of the ice machine, poor personal hygiene practices, and inadequate storage of ice scoops,” an expert notes.
