Purple could be the new green in 2017. The experts at Whole Foods are claiming that there is a rise in the consumption of purple food items and this could be a major trend in the upcoming year.
“Richly colored purple foods are popping up everywhere: purple cauliflower, black rice, purple asparagus, elderberries, acai, purple sweet potatoes, purple corn and cereal.” A statement said.
But surprisingly, it’s not the color that is contributing to the trend. In fact, it is the healthiness quotient that purple food items bring to the table.
“The power of purple goes beyond the vibrant color and often indicates nutrient density and antioxidants.” The statement added.
Experts suggest that darker the color of the food, the higher the content of anti-oxidants and nutrients in the food. So when someone asks you why your plate if all purple next year, you have a credible answer.
