The most common answer would be: washing.
While it a practice that many of us follow, it is unhealthy to wash the chicken before cooking it. The reason for this is a potential bacteria outbreak. Splashing water over the chicken facilitates the spreading of bacteria such as campylobacter. These bacteria can spread all over your kitchen and cause gastric illness.
Due to the danger that it carries, the Food Standard Agency even started a campaign which said ‘Don’t wash your chicken’. Now, to kill all the bacteria in the chicken is to cook is till the meat is not pink.
