Sharing food is seen as a kind gesture by many of us, but in Tampa, Florida, it could get you arrested. Over the weekend seven people were arrested for giving food items to the homeless.
“When police arrived on the scene, they gave the activists three minutes to stop feeding those in need. Then, they moved in, pulling the volunteers away as they continued to serve. ‘Please help yourselves,’ one could be heard saying to those still gathered as he was dragged off.” A letter shared with CL Tampa noted.
According to the law in Tampa, a special permit is needed to give free food but these permits are pricey because of the insurance policy in the city.
