Subway is a global phenomenon and everyone loves it as well. But not many know the story behind the restaurant chain.
It was actually founded by a seventeen-year-old. Yes, you read that right, a seventeen-year-old. The whole thing started when Fred DeLuca set out to become a medical doctor in 1965. He wanted a way to pay for his education and taking the advice from a friend, he decided to open a submarine sandwich shop.
He collected a loan of $ 1000 from his friend Dr. Peter Buck, who became a partner in the venture. The first shop was opened in Connecticut and it soon became a huge hit.
