A new research has shown that Hospitals in the United Kingdom are only spending £2 on food for their patients. This is apparently the same amount that prisons spend on food for the inmates.
The new stat has sparked calls for a review of the food and nutrition standards.
“We need a total review of hospital food. How can we expect people to get better when we are spending less than £2 on their meals? It makes me furious that you can hardly buy anything for less than a couple of pounds but yet we will stretch it out and make that into 3 meals a day in hospital.” Norman Lamb, Lib Dem health spokesman, told.
