Almonds are the most nourishing nut available in the market. It contains a wide range of essential vitamins and minerals like Vitamin E, zinc, calcium, magnesium and omega-3 fatty acids. Many people enjoy raw or roasted almonds. But soaked almonds are healthier than raw ones.
Advantages of soaked almonds:
- Soaked almonds eliminate the toxic materials present in its coating, decomposes its gluten content and release phytic acid. It helps to get the most out of the nuts.
- Almonds have a tough, hard texture that can make them difficult to digest. However, soaking softens them, making them easier for your body to break down.
- Soaking may make almonds easier to chew, increasing nutrient availability.
- Soaking also affects the texture and taste of almonds. Raw almonds are hard and crunchy, with a slightly bitter flavor due to their tannins
In order to soak almonds, place them in a bowl containing warm water. Add 1 tbsp of salt and cover them tightly. Let it sit overnight or for 8–12 hours. Remove the skins for a smoother texture and have them early in the morning before breakfast. You can also munch on them throughout the day to get that extra burst of energy if you require it.
