The intrusion of technology into the food world has been a notable one. Our eating experience has considerably changed and now, a super computer has come out with a data analysis on how rum should taste.
The IBM Watson’s Linguistic AI was used to interpret millions of social media posts about rum reviews and figured out that rum evokes similar emotions as holidays in humans
“The data showed us that the top five emotions associated with holidays are: happiness, adventurousness, curiosity, relaxation and excitement. It also showed us that these emotions matched with the following respective flavours: vanilla, all spice, curiosity, coconut and sugar or sweetness. This gave us the key flavours for our rum recipe,” said one of the researchers.
That is, Rum essentially tastes like holidays.
