This app lets you share unwanted food items with your neighbour

With the threat of food waste increasing every day, the need to handle unwanted food items is on an all-time high.

And this was the idea behind Olio which is a hyper-local food sharing application. Based out of the United Kingdom, the application and the website associated with it let you post pictures of unwanted food items. This can then be picked up by your neighbours which in turn reduces food wastage.

As a support to their initiative, the start-up has picked up a Series A funding of $6 million dollars as well. According to the founders of the company, the idea is to curb out food wastage in an effective way by sharing food via the application.
