Here are the top five sources of salt in your food

A report from the US Government has released a new report suggesting the major sources of salt in everyone’s daily diet.

The list released had some shocking names and surprisingly, potato chips, and other salty snacks did not make it into the top five. So in case you are wondering which all food items made it, below is the list.

  • Bread
  • Pizza
  • Sandwiches
  • Cold cuts and cured meats.
  • Soup

The researchers noted that knowing what food contributes salt is important in maintaining a healthy diet.

“Most Americans are consuming too much salt and it’s coming from a lot of commonly consumed foods — about 25 foods contribute the majority of salt,” said lead researcher Zerleen Quader.
