The need of curbing food wastage is on the rise every day. And now, the United Kingdom is set to change their food guidelines to tackle the issue.
They are going to do the same by reintroducing the snowflake logo which will indicate that the food can be frozen. A new blue fridge logo will also be introduced to show that the food item will last longer if stored in the fridge.
‘We know that confusing labels can contribute to food waste by suggesting that edible items need to be thrown away sooner than is necessary. This new guidance will make packaging much clearer for consumers, saving them money and reducing waste.’ Environment Minister Thérèse Coffey said.
