According to the Food and Drink Federation, The United Kingdom exported a record amount of food in the first quarter of 2017. A good portion of this has been credited to the surging sales of salmon.
The sales of Salmon grew by a whopping 50 percent by value. This, when converted to £186.7m in money. Whiskey is the top food and drinks export during the period with sales of around £895.9m. Scottish salmon and chocolate are slightly behind. The federation is also crediting the weaker pound for the increase in export.
