Usage of plastic straws can soon put you in jail in this state

California is about to become a state where you could get punished for using plastic straw. Democrat Ian Calderon has proposed a bill in the state which will try to get rid of plastic straws from restaurants and in-turn help the environment.

The usage of plastic straw can put restaurants owners or waitstaff in jail for around six months or they will have to pay a hefty fine of $1000.

“We need to create awareness around the issue of one-time use of plastic straws and its detrimental effects on our landfills, waterways, and oceans,” Calderon said in a statement.
