Drinking beer instead of eating painkillers actually works.
A study conducted at the University of Greenwich proved that having two pints of beer is more effective than having painkillers. The trick to this lies in elevating the alcohol content in your body.
Raising this level by .08 percent increases your pain threshold and it results in moderate to a large reduction in pain.
“Findings suggest that alcohol is an effective analgesic that delivers clinically-relevant reductions in ratings of pain intensity, which could explain alcohol misuse in those with persistent pain, despite its potential consequences for long-term health.” The study notes.
