Wholesale Produce Market makes a huge step to feed the needy

Wholesale Produce Market, which is one of the largest produce hubs in the Bay Area, has made a bold step in feeding the needy. The market has kick started giving donations for charities rather than only relying on the leftover food items.

Such donations ensure that the quality of the food items that charities get from the Wholesale Produce market would be high. Carolyn Lasar has assumed the role of food recovery coordinator for the market to make sure that the charities get the proper donations that they require.

The whole process of reducing food waste was kick started back in August when Lasar was hired. From then, the program has managed to save around 224,000 pounds of food items.
