Binge Eating Disorder (BED) might sound like a funny name. But with obesity and unhealthy weight gaining on the rise, it is something that should be taken seriously. Especially, in children, such conditions should be avoided.
However, a new study conducted by Weizmann Institute in Israel has found that if there is stress during pregnancy, the female children born could exhibit the Binge Eating disorder in adulthood. It also leads to a string of other problems to the child as well.
“The price we pay later in life – whether it’s psychiatric disorders, metabolic syndromes, or heart-related illnesses – is heavily impacted by the way your brain was programmed early in life,” said Alon Chen, a neurobiologist at the institute.
So it is recommended to keep the anxiety levels low during pregnancy so that the child remains healthy on the longer run.
