Is Salt really good for your teeth?

Is salt healthy for your teeth? The obvious answer is yes. Over the years, we have learned that salt has a positive impact on dental health. To an extent, this is scientifically backed as well.

Saltwater is a natural disinfectant which can be used for cleaning up your mouth. Similarly, salt is used as an ingredient in toothpaste due to its cleansing properties. Salt does this by increasing the PH levels in our mouth. The increased PH level prevents bacteria from thriving. But there is a catch.

Too much exposure to salt can result in some major issues. The excessive usage of salt could erode the enamel in the teeth. Also, if salt-rich food is consumed beyond a particular limit, it impacts the sodium level in our body.
