McDonald’s is flipping its arches upside down, here’s why

McDonald’s flipped its arch upside down in California as part of the International Women’s Day which was celebrated on March 8. Not only did the food chain flip the arch, they also used an upside-down logo for its social media pages.

“In celebration of women everywhere, and for the first time in our brand history, we flipped our iconic arches for International Women’s Day in honor of the extraordinary accomplishments of women everywhere and especially in our restaurants. From restaurant crew and management to our C-suite of senior leadership, women play invaluable roles at all levels and together with our independent franchise owners we’re committed to their success.”  McDonald’s Chief Diversity Officer Wendy Lewis said in an email statement.

As mentioned earlier, the experiment was carried out in California and though there is a noble idea behind the whole thing, the hardships involved in flipping the arches might limit the campaign to certain places only.
