The food item we are talking about is saffron. Although it is one of the most expensive spices out there, it can relieve from the cramps if used correctly. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is an excellent herbal remedy for women.

All you have to do is, boil a cup of milk and add a teaspoon of powdered saffron in it. Drink it in the morning or before going to sleep. You can also add honey for taste.

However, make sure that you are not consuming saffron too much. Also, if you are a lactating mother, you better consult the doctor first before taking this up.
