An apple a day can keep the doctor away but what happens if we eat an egg a day?
Well, according to studies, eating one egg per day can lower the risk of Type-2 diabetes. Blood samples collected from men that consumed more eggs showed that there is a positive correlation between Type-2 diabetes and egg consumption.
239 serum samples were analysed for the same and the authors concluded that further studies might be required to reach a clear conclusion.
“Although it is too early to draw any causal conclusions, we now have some hints about certain egg-related compounds that may have a role in Type-2 diabetes development. Further detailed investigations with both cell models and intervention studies in humans that use modern techniques, such as metabolomics, are needed to understand the mechanisms behind physiological effects of egg intake,” the lead author noted.
