Brown Eggs vs. White Eggs: Here’s what you need to know

Brown eggs are more nutritious than white eggs – this is a myth that most of us believe.

We probably believe this because the brown ones are actually more expensive when compared to their white counterparts.

But what we don’t know is the reason behind this price difference. It is obvious to think that it might be because of the nutrition factor. However, that isn’t the case.

The reason why the brown eggs are more expensive is that the hens that lay them are physically bigger breeds. These hens, in turn, need more food and farm space compared to the hens that lay the white eggs. This increases the cost of production which is carried over to the consumer as an extra cost.

So it is basically a case of production cost rather than nutrition that brings a price difference between these two types of eggs. And that, ladies and gentleman, is one food myth buster.
