Eating Disorder does not distinguish between people with Normal Body Weight or Abnormal Body weight. According to a new study, it was found that even people with Normal Body Weight could struggle with eating disorder.
A new type of the condition called atypical anorexia nervosa was apparently found in people with normal body weight and the foundings are alarming as well. This had high similiarities to the Anorexia nervosa which is a condition that results in distorted body image, intense fear of weight gain and over exercising among others.
“This group of patients is under-recognised and undertreated. Our study showed that they can be just as sick medically and psychologically as anorexia nervosa patients who are underweight.” The study noted.
This affirms that even if you are having normal body weight and health, things could go downhill pretty fast if proper diet and exercise routines are not followed. It also sheds light into the fact that we might require to take many more factors into consideration when measuring the weight rather than just rely on the numbers.
As they say, looks can be deceptive.
