What are the food items that never expires? Find out

As we all know, there are a number of food items that have an indefinite shelf life. Anything with very low moisture content will resist spoiling. You don’t have to bother looking for an expiration date on these foods.

Here is a list of non-perishable food items that have long shelf lives.

  • Honey: Honey is a viscous liquid. It actually contains very little water. It is extremely stable and has been found to last for thousands of years. It has antiviral and antibacterial properties. It also has antibiotic properties that protect its taste and keep it from spoiling.
  • White Vinegar: The shelf life of white vinegar is almost indefinite. The acidic nature of vinegar makes it self-preserving. Properly stored white vinegar will remain unchanged over time.
  • Cornstarch: Cornstarch is a powdery ingredient that will stay good indefinitely. Store it in an airtight container, away from light and heat. There it stays uncontaminated.
  • Salt: Table salt or sea salt, when stored in a cool, dry place, remains fresh indefinitely. However, if the salt has added ingredients, like iodine, then it will have a shorter shelf life than regular old salt.

The long-lasting foods listed above must be kept in airtight containers and should not come into contact with moisture. If there is mold, a foul odor, or some changes to color that indicate some kind of spoilage on any food or drink, then you should throw it out to be safe.
