More than eighty per cent of our oceans are unmapped and unexplored. With that said, the remaining area has given us tonnes of fish which have found a place in our favourite recipe list.
Statistically speaking, people in the USA alone eat five billion pounds of seafood in a year underlining the fact that fish is something that we cannot avoid at this point.
The benefits of fish are not limited to its taste alone. They are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids which is good for your health. Fish is generally rich in protein as well and is a natural source of iodine.
Coming back to the numbers, more than 3.1 billion people in the world depend on fish for at least 20% of the animal protein that they require. This high consumption makes sea food one of the most traded commodities in the world with a worth of around 145 Billion dollars per year.
Additionally, the consumption of fish is going up with the per capita consumption expected to reach 21.5 kg by 2024 compared to 9kg which was there in 1961.
