The origin stories of food items are always fun and interesting. Though such stories are often debated, it is interesting to see how the popular food items that we see today dates back to centuries.
We will be taking a look at one such food item today: Pasta. While the origin story of pasta is up for debate, the belief is that Pasta was brought to Italy from China in the 13th century. This is based on the writings of Marco Polo.
In his writing, Polo claims that there was a tree from which a food item like pasta was made. Additionally, many Italian writers claim that tombs from the fourth century BC bear a relief of pasta-making equipment.
Later in the 13th century, the references of pasta dishes are seen extensively across writings meaning that the dish probably attained huge popularity by this time period.
